Actress (UK)
Artists
Actress' dubstep aesthetics mingle with rave breaks and micro-house attitude to conjure up a gleefully indefinable journey through one of the more tangential side roads veering off from todays electronic music. The artist is certainly no stranger to challenging conventions. As label manager for London-based label Werk Discs, hes played a pivotal part in bringing to light critically acclaimed albums by Zomby and Lukid. Actress own debut album, the tragically under-rated Hazyville, is equally bold and engaging, but apart from three more singles across a seven-year stretch, including Paint, Straw, and Bubbles on the mighty Honest Jons label, Actress has most flown under the radar.

Andy Stott (UK)
Artists
Andy Stott made his debut for the Modern Love label in 2005 with the 'Replace EP' - a 4 track exposition of his uniquely slanted production style taking in Chi-Town and Motor City influences with an obtuse genetic code at its core. In the years since he has released over a dozen EP's and an album under his own name, as well as several productions under the Andrea moniker for Modern Love's 'Daphne' sublabel. Refusing to settle, his output has veered from deepest Techno to broken Garage, slowed down House and hyperactive Juke - always referencing his unique stylistic signatures: deep, complex and oddly beautiful. 2011 saw the release of 'Passed Me By', a mini-album of sorts shifting his sound into ever more frayed territory, slowing the tempos down for a set of tracks that have garnered the highest praise of his career to date. Later on in the year a companion EP of tracks will be released as well as a compendium of his most recent material.

Cindytalk (UK)
Artists
Reincarnated as a vehicle for Gordon Sharps solo productions, legendary post-punk project Cindytalk returned to Editions Mego for a third album last year. "Hold Everything Dear" gracefully tackles intensity levels that range from fragile piano elegies to harmonious drone cascades on 12 inspired instrumentals.
Gordon Sharp formed Cindytalk in 1982 and has since then been the only constant member of this ever shift shaping punk, noise, experimental group. Sharp's contribution to popular culture is already the stuff of legend, praised by John Peel session and The Cocteau Twins to name a few.

Clemens Behr (DE)
Artists
German artist Clemens Behr uses the simplest materials to create complex ephemeral architectures, which fill gallery spaces with origami-like structures. Working with recycled materials and basic geometric forms, Behr dreams up installations that result in subtle confusions between 2D painting and 3D objects. Not content with the confines of gallery spaces, Behr has taken his work into the public sphere, building peculiar appendages in metro cars and erecting detailed miniature cities on street corners. At their best, his installations are feats of optical trickery, disorienting architectures reminiscent of German expressionist film sets. At their worst, they look like a creative kid ran amok with a bunch of moving boxes and a vat of paint. Behr belongs to a crop of artists, who take inspiration from childlike forms of expression, a naive, innocent aesthetic befitting a generation of Peter Pans...

Crank Sturgeon (US)
Artists
Crank Sturgeon has been active in performance, installation, and sound art since the early 1990's. A comical conceptualist, Crank is something of a misnomer: whether blending pun with the profane, or transforming the precious into an oil spill, a Sturgeon performance defies categorization. Accompanied by ridiculous costuming, pointed instructions and parables (gone awry), and even the occasional dirigible or two, these elements intertwine into space-defying interventions, which invariably involve a degree of audience participation. More than just possessing a predilection for the absurd, Crank wears the goggles of the perpetual optimist: infusing his processes with a classical struggle, and yet always with a leery salmon grin; awash in an undertow of delicious and celebratory noise...
An indefatigable nomad, Crank Sturgeon frequently tours his one-man show to independent galleries, venues, and DIY spaces across the USA and Europe; in the past year with performances at Chautaugua Art Lab in St. Louis, Missouri; NorCal Noise Festival, in Sacramento, California; Ende Tymes Festival in Queens, New York; Frantasia Festival for Out-Music & Arts, in Livermore Falls, Maine; XFest in Lowell, Massachusetts; and the Sacred and Profane, on Peaks Island, Maine. Many of these performances have also featured an installation element as well, such as an interactive, life size cardboard airplane (for the Sacred and Profane); or in the manner a solo construct, such as, "Husopathy", a three day installation event held at the MEME Gallery in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

KILLL (NO)
Artists
KILLL is a four-divided force; a blast of energy coming from four different corners of Norway's relentless music scene. Together they have one aim: to give you a concert to remember.
Having to face up to the fact that the KILLL members already have a full plate with their main bands, KILLL concerts become exclusive events, a blossom of pent-up energy for the few to see.
KILLL kills the borders between metal, rock and electronica, and the result is not what you think. Combining electric electronic chaos with digital precision, genres melt and music emerges that one never would think of experiencing live. On the concert stage, KILLL's sonic onslaught finds an optical equivalent in the flickering stroboscope light designs programmed by Kyrrelys.
A an extensive live DVD/CD package is expected to soon hit the streets on Oslo's Fysisk Format.

Lesley Flanigan (US)
Artists
Artist and vocalist Lesley Flanigan (New York) approaches electronic sound with a sculptural method based on materials of noise and tone. Surrounded by clusters of wires, speakers, and microphones, she choreographs the sounds of speaker feedback against her own singing voice, constructing music that embraces the transparency of process. ArtsCriticATL writes, Flanigans performance comes loaded with philosophical ideas, often blurring the boundaries among music, noise, sculpture and performance art. Amplifications, her album of music for speaker electronics and voice, was called a snow storm of a record by New Music Box. Her work has been presented at venues and festivals internationally, including Sonar (Barcelona), the Guggenheim Museum, the Roskilde Museet for Samtidskunst, and HBC in Berlin

Tove Kjellmark (SE)
Artists
What is distinctive in Tove Kjellmark's work is a faschination for behavior, dynamics and movement. This is an artist who creates work in a very spontaneous way using advanced technology, robotics and digital media as a tool for artistic expression. Kjellmark draws on psychoanalysis and neuroscience to explore people's relationship to that which is alien, or non-human, with focus on humans in relation to machines. Sculpture, photography and drawings in parallel all revolve around the question of how to represent vulnerable, mute, bodily states of being. An interactive toy is often the starting point in these artworks which Kjellmark cuts open, tears off the soft covering, makes strange, and controls with computer code. Sometimes she inverts the scale so that the interactive sculptures becomes menacing and monstrous giants, in other cases, she goes under the skin to uncover the psychological notions that problematizes the human. Tove articulates in a deeply perverse way essential questions about the contemporary human condition.

Tristan Perich (US)
Artists
Tristan Perichs (New York) work is inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics and code. The WIRE Magazine describes his compositions as an austere meeting of electronic and organic. 1-Bit Music, his 2004 release, was the first album ever released as a microchip, programmed to synthesize his electronic composition live. His latest circuit album, 1-Bit Symphony (Cantaloupe, 2010) has received critical acclaim, called sublime (New York Press), and the Wall Street Journal said [its] oscillations have an intense, hypnotic force and a surprising emotional depth. His prolific, award winning work coupling 1-bit electronics with traditional forms in both music (Active Field, Observations) and visual art (Machine Drawings, Interval Studies) have been presented around the world, from Sonar and Ars Electronica to the Whitney Museum and bitforms gallery.
