As part of ICAS Network, Full Pull is creating bridges between Europe and South America. The project is also a follow up to Full Pull’s visit at ROJO®Nova in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year.

ICAS aims to spark dialogue, knowledge exchange and mutual support amongst organizations worldwide engaged with Advanced Sound cultures and related arts. Its greater aim is to support its member organizations in building up sustainable infrastructures to support, promote, sponsor and mobilize (often experimental and critical) Advanced Sound and related arts within their specific localities and contexts.

Full Pull and Malmö Symphonic Orchestra present an new production with the Swedish electronic/jazz/pop duo Midaircondo in collaboration with percussionist Michala Østergaard-Nielsen and three brass musicians. For this unique project Midaircondo invited Berlin-based Fubbi Karlsson to make a visual design with 3D-projections and live video on stage.

Midaircondo are renowned for their extraordinary live performances of imaginative music fused with experimental visuals. Using highly diverse sound sources and a great deal of improvisation, they create dreamy and evocative soundscapes that leave no one untouched. Together with percussionist Michala Østergaard-Nielsen and three brass musicians they present a new collaboration with visual design by Fubbi Karlsson. Fubbi Karlsson is involved in electronic interfacing and prototyping in the visual and performing arts. Recent collaborations include Portraits Officiels at Nice and Fit (with Frederic D.), advising for the Dirk Bell show at the Schinkel Pavillion in Berlin, and several projects with Canadian performer Peaches.

A co-prouction by Malmö Symphonic Orchestra and Full Pull. The concert is supported by Antenna – a swedejazz expedition.

Artist and vocalist Lesley Flanigan (New York) approaches electronic sound with a sculptural method based on materials of noise and tone. Surrounded by clusters of wires, speakers, and microphones, she choreographs the sounds of speaker feedback against her own singing voice, constructing music that embraces the transparency of process. ArtsCriticATL writes, “Flanigan’s performance comes loaded with philosophical ideas, often blurring the boundaries among music, noise, sculpture and performance art.” Amplifications, her album of music for speaker electronics and voice, was called a “snow storm of a record” by New Music Box. Her work has been presented at venues and festivals internationally, including Sonar (Barcelona), the Guggenheim Museum, the Roskilde Museet for Samtidskunst, and HBC in Berlin

She holds degrees from both the Eastman School and the Manhattan School of Music, where she specialized in contemporary performance practice. Mariel strives to make a career performing unconventional music in a wide range of unconventional venues, in hopes of illuminating exceptional new art to audiences of all different backgrounds.

Mariel is a performer of international reach who has played throughout the US and Europe in such venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Lincoln Center in New York, Issue Project Room, Galapagos Art Space, the Tank, the Stone, and various other galleries, warehouses, and non-traditional performance venues. Mariel is in the process of working on her first album to be released, a CD of all newly commissioned works for solo cello by six innovative New York-based composers. In addition to her love of contemporary classical music, Mariel has also remained a committed student of ethnomusicology, and has played and performed with many diverse ensembles including Balinese Gamelan, Zimbabwean mbira ensemble, a Mariachi band, a Celtic Fiddle group, and several jazz groups.

Tristan Perich’s (New York) work is inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics and code. The WIRE Magazine describes his compositions as “an austere meeting of electronic and organic.” 1-Bit Music, his 2004 release, was the first album ever released as a microchip, programmed to synthesize his electronic composition live. His latest circuit album, 1-Bit Symphony (Cantaloupe, 2010) has received critical acclaim, called “sublime” (New York Press), and the Wall Street Journal said “[its] oscillations have an intense, hypnotic force and a surprising emotional depth.” His prolific, award winning work coupling 1-bit electronics with traditional forms in both music (Active Field, Observations) and visual art (Machine Drawings, Interval Studies) have been presented around the world, from Sonar and Ars Electronica to the Whitney Museum and bitforms gallery.

For the 10th edition of Scaniaparken Starfield Simulation presents a sound installation by Norwegian artist Jana Winderen. The piece is created from field recordings made on site, both over and under water. As last years installation by Alvin Lucier/Anne Wellmer directed our attention to the inaudible sounds of the spheres, Jana Winderen inverts the parabolic of the park to an ear towards the depth of Öresund.

The theme of the workshop is to use different techniques to visualize sound. Using the programming language SuperCollider to transform sound into images. The workshop will be led by Fredrik Olofsson and selected images from the workshop will be presented in an exhibition. The images will be generated in real time and presented as graphic prints and video projections (with sound).
Participants will use microphones for recordings, processed in real time to create image results. As the sound is not constant, each image will be unique.

Limited number of participants, max 10 pers. Personal laptop with MAC OS X, LINUX eller WINDOWS is required. The workshop lasts Wednesday Oct 12-14 – altogether 24 hours. More precise hours will be announced. Workshop registration fee includes material and snacks during workshop hours.

Previous experience of programming is desirable, but not required. We will together write a simple program code from scratch and modify existing programs. This at a pace where everyone can keep up. If you have programming skills in any language you can develop further and control the graphics / sounds to achieve more elaborated results faster.

KILLL is a four-divided force; a blast of energy coming from four different corners of Norway’s relentless music scene. Together they have one aim: to give you a concert to remember.

Having to face up to the fact that the KILLL members already have a full plate with their main bands, KILLL concerts become exclusive events, a blossom of pent-up energy for the few to see.

KILLL kills the borders between metal, rock and electronica, and the result is not what you think. Combining electric electronic chaos with digital precision, genres melt and music emerges that one never would think of experiencing live. On the concert stage, KILLL’s sonic onslaught finds an optical equivalent in the flickering stroboscope light designs programmed by Kyrrelys.
